Learn More About ImageKey - Frequently Asked Questions
What is ImageKey?
ImageKey is a new, additional layer of online security feature that is
now a standard part of your Online Banking login experience. As part of
our ongoing commitment to help protect you against identity theft and
fraud, ImageKey helps prevent unauthorized access to your accounts while
reassuring you that you are at the valid Omni Bank, N.A. (“Omni”)
Website. ImageKey consists of 3 parts: an image, an image title, and 3
challenge questions that are secrets between you and Omni. All 3 parts
help protect you, whether you are logging in to Online Banking from your
own computer, or from somewhere else (such as work or a public library.
Why do I need ImageKey?
ImageKey helps to ensure your information is secure by protecting you
from fraud and identity theft in 2 ways. (1) It helps you recognize that
you are at the valid Online Banking site at Omni, rather than at a phony
look-alike site. (2) You can ensure that we also recognize you as the
true owner of your account because ImageKey helps us verify your
identity with your chosen image and image description. If we do not
recognize your computer, we will ask you one of your challenge questions
as an additional line of defense against unauthorized access to your
accounts.
How does ImageKey work?
ImageKey is made up of 3 parts: an image, image title, and 3 challenge
questions that no one else knows. When you are at your own computer,
enter your Access ID. Then click on the Submit button and we will show
your secret ImageKey and image title, which verifies that you are at the
valid Online Banking site at Omni. You know it is safe to enter your
Password.
When you are logging in from a different computer, we ask one of your
challenge questions to verify your identity. When you answer correctly,
the secret image and image title appears. You know it is safe to enter
you Password and login; and we know that it is really you.
Has my Password changed?
No. The image, image title, and 3 challenge questions and answers you
provide are separate from your regular Online Banking login Password.
Does ImageKey use cookies?
One of the ways we recognize you is by placing a cookie on your computer
when you sign up for our ImageKey service. The cookie contains a
randomly generated, unique number used as an identifier. When you login
after that, your Web browser sends us this cookie, which lets us know
that you are using your own computer. The cookie is visible only to the
Online Banking site at Omni and does not contain any personal
information. You can also access Online Banking from any number of
computers and have the same ImageKey protections.
How is ImageKey more secure?
ImageKey helps you know that you are at the valid Online Banking site at
Omni before you enter your Password. In addition, we know it is really
you signing in because we recognize your computer or we ask you a
challenge question to verify your identity.
Why do I need to set up challenge questions?
Challenge questions help prevent unauthorized people from getting access
to your Online Banking information. That way, even if they have stolen
your Access ID and Password, they will not know the answer to the secret
question. And if someone logs in from a computer that we do not
recognize (for example, if you log in from a public library), we will
ask you a challenge question to verify that it is really you.
What if someone steals my Password? How will ImageKey prevent them
from accessing my account?
When an unauthorized person tries to sign in from another computer, we
will recognize that they are using a different computer, and so we will
ask one of your challenge questions. They will not know the answer and
will not be able to login to your account.
What keeps somebody from stealing my secret image and image title?
After you enter your Access ID and click on the Submit button, we only
show your secret image and image title automatically if you login from a
computer we recognize as your computer. If you are at a different
computer, we ask one of your challenge questions before showing the
image.
When I enter my Access ID, it asks me a question instead of showing
my secret image. Why?
This is to help verify that it is really you logging in. We ask a
challenge question when you are signing in from a computer we do not
recognize. Your correct answer confirms that it is really you.
How do I know I am at the genuine Online Banking site?
ImageKey will help you figure that out. Type the correct address (www.omnibankna.com)
directly into your Web browser. When you arrive at the site and enter
you Access ID, click on the Submit button, and your secret image and
image title will appear. That is confirmation that you are at Omni’s
legitimate Web site. If you do not see your secret image and image
title, and are not asked your secret challenge question, do not enter
your Password. Since this may represent a fraudulent Website, please
report this immediately to us at any of our branch office. Please click
the Locations button at the top of our Website for phone numbers.
Can I access Online Banking from multiple computers?
Yes, you can access Online Banking from any number of computers and have
the same ImageKey protections. If you login from a computer that you
have not used for Online Banking before, you just need to answer one of
your challenge questions to verify that it is really you. Once you
answer the question correctly, we will ask you if you would like us to
register that computer and recognize it in the future. If you choose
this option, you will not need to answer a challenge question when you
use that computer again.
I share my computer with someone who also uses Online Banking. Can
both of us still sign in from this computer?
Yes. You can use the same computer to login to your individual Online
Banking accounts safely; you will not see each other’s information.
There is no limit to how may people can sign login to Online Banking
from the same computer. Just remember not to share your Access ID,
Password or answers to your challenge questions.
Can I change my secret image, image title, and challenge questions?
Yes, you can change your secret image, image title, and challenge
questions at any time. We will not ask you to change your ImageKey
information, and we will not change it for you. To make the change,
login to Online Banking and go to the Change Options tab. Then click on
the Change Security Challenge link.
Is there a fee for using the ImageKey service?
ImageKey is free. It is just one more way we are working with you to
safeguard your privacy and security.
